Laura Waller, Professor

Closed (1) computational imaging and microscopy

Closed. This professor is continuing with Fall 2017 apprentices on this project; no new apprentices needed for Spring 2018.

We are building new microscopes that use computation to do things that microscopes normally can't, like 3D imaging, gigapixel imaging or phase imaging. We need motivated people with either (or both) of:

1) signal processing experience (EE120) or programming our image processing algorithms in Matlab or C or Python

2) willing to get your hands dirty building things with optics and electronics (no experience necessary in this part). Will work closely with biologists, optics folks who build microscopes and collaborators.

Writing code, conducting experiments, meeting with graduate students, presenting work at group meeting.

Day-to-day supervisor for this project: Laura Waller

Qualifications: 1) Matlab, EE120, other image processing and optimization classes helpful. or 2) EE16A/B

Weekly Hours: 9-12 hrs
