Open (1) Digital Performance Assistant

I am looking for a small group of students, two to three, who are interested in learning about using digital sensors during a live dance event. The apprenticeship includes working with computer scientist and performance technologist Ian Heisters and myself. We are developing a new dance piece for the Berkeley Dance Project 2016.

Task: Helping set up for rehearsals. This includes setting up cables, computers, sensor technology, projectors.

Task: Assisting during the rehearsal process. This includes experimenting with placement of both body-based sensors (accelerometers), camera sensors, and touch pads used within the piece.

Task: Assisting with an event called made@berkeley. This event takes place April 22nd 12:30 -2 and 2:30-4:00pm. Must be free before, after, and during the event.

Task: Assisting with the actual BDP performances. Contact Lisa Wymore for the full schedule. April 11-30 various rehearsals in the evenings. Also must be available Mondays or Fridays from 12-2pm.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Experience with computers, Mac preferred Experience with social media Willingness and interest in working with digital technology Interested in dance performance Timely and responsible Self-motivated Able to take feedback well and collaborate with others Desirable: Interest in dance and dance studies Experience with Google Blogger and other Google products Experience with sensor technology
