Closed (1) Stories of Strawberry Creek - An Audio Exploration Honoring Native Land and Indigenous Practices with Dance Artist Rulan Tangen of Dancing Earth.

Applications for Fall 2018 are now closed for this project.

Audio Project involving environmental issues related to Strawberry Creek and the history of the creek: restoration efforts and historical acknowledgement of Ohlone land practices.
I am looking for a small group of students, 1-3 who would like to work on capturing environmental sounds, and audio (maybe video) interviews of local Ohlone tribal members discussing land acknowledgment and sovereignty. This will be interwoven into a larger dance work for the Berkeley Dance Project - the annual dance concert for the Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies. Visiting Dance Artist Rulan Tangen of Dancing Earth will be creating the dance work with students.

The work will take place between October 5-22 only, and is flexible. Much will depend on when interviews can be scheduled. Most work times will be during the day along the creek, outside, and in a sound booth for interviews.
