Did you know that Latina women in the United States often face unique forms of discrimination and racism? Studies show that these experiences can significantly impact their mental and physical health. Latinas are not only navigating a complex social landscape but also shaping vibrant cultural narratives amidst these challenges. Join our project and delve into the heart of these experiences.
This qualitative study will use focus groups to inform the development of a new survey tool capturing Latina’s anticipation/expectation of racism. As a key member of our team, you'll assist in organizing and facilitating these groups, contributing to vital data analysis and development of a new survey instrument. This role is perfect for students passionate about racism, social justice, public health, psychology, and/or cultural studies, offering extensive hands-on experience in qualitative research and a unique opportunity to contribute to understanding and addressing a critical social issue.
Role: Apprentices will work with the day-to-day supervisor, the professor, and each other, and will gain experience in various aspects of the qualitative research process, including literature reviews, first hand experience in running and assisting in moderating focus groups, and qualitative data analysis.
