Undergraduate Humanities Writer
Stephen Best, Professor
Townsend Center
Applications for Spring 2025 are closed for this project.
The Undergraduate Humanities Writer covers humanities-related events and programs at Berkeley's Townsend Center for the Humanities and across campus.
Role: The URAP apprentice researches and writes about events, programs, and timely issues in the humanities at UC Berkeley, both at the Townsend Center for the Humanities and elsewhere on campus. Pieces will appear in Townsend Center publicity outlets, including our blog, Bear's-Eye View, and may be used in campus-wide publicity and publications as well.
This mentored position enables the apprentice to become better informed about the academic study of the humanities and the wealth of humanities-related opportunities on campus, while gaining practice translating what they learn into compelling and accessible prose. The apprentice will end the semester with 4-5 strong writing clips.
Qualifications: Applicants are encouraged to include samples of any public-facing writing they have done, either online or in print.
