At UCSF Spine Center, we have a number of studies related to patient outcomes after surgery. We have studies on frailty, pain and pain medication, personality changes from surgery, surgical complications, analysis of patient-reported outcomes with natural language processing, the effectiveness of a pre-habilitation program, and the effectiveness of surgical techniques. Interns will have the opportunity to shadow the clinical and research team.
Role: Undergraduate research assistants will gather data by asking patients various validated questionnaires, assisting clinical research coordinators ask the patients to complete different tasks, collecting measurements, and reviewing medical records.
Day-to-day supervisor for this project: Alex Kim , Staff Researcher

Off-Campus Research Site: Will be hybrid- both remote and at the UCSF Spine Center
