Gender in the Workplace

This project examines behavior, beliefs, and attitudes relevant to gender differences in career attainment. Using a variety of methods, including experimental studies, correlational studies, and archival analyses, this project seeks to understand organizational barriers limiting gender equality in compensation and advancement and to identify interventions aimed at mitigating them.
Some topics under investigation:
- Negotiation outcomes
- Beliefs about gender roles and how they affect policy support
- The gender gap in c-suite positions
- Corporate diversity goals
- Gender differences in pursuit of power and status
Role: Research apprentices will be asked to help with stimuli creation, data collection, data coding, data analysis, manuscript preparation, literature reviews, and team meetings.
Qualifications: Applicants majoring in psychology or other relevant field with an intention of pursuing graduate studies (doctoral) will be given priority. Highly conscientious individuals with strong attention to detail, strong quantitative and communication skills are sought. Reasonable availability on a weekly basis is also needed for coordination purposes. Experience with SPSS/R or programming (Python) and experimental methods coursework is preferred but not required.
