Research in Macroeconomics and Labor Economics

Benjamin Schoefer, Professor
Economics

Applications for Spring 2025 are closed for this project.

We will conduct research in macroeconomics and labor economics. The student may work on early-stage and advanced research projects. For an overview of potential topics, please see my website:

https://eml.berkeley.edu/~schoefer/

Please do not reach out by email before you have been selected. I cannot respond to email in advance of the selection of candidates.

Role: Tasks may involve data cleaning, data analysis, proof reading of texts, compiling literature review, economic modeling, and writing memos on any of those topics.

We will stay in regular contact by email, Zoom, Slack, and occasional in-person meetings. Usually the apprentice works independently on a task for a period of time and then submits the material in memos.

Qualifications: The ideal applicant has taken intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics (ideally 101A and 101B) as well as econometrics and some labor economics.

I will consider also applications without those qualifications.

Please list the amount of hours per week you'd be able to put in in your application. Please also include a link to your CV e.g. to Google Drive or Dropbxo in that application (but do not email it to me).

Hours: to be negotiated
