Economic Analysis for Public Policy

Applications for Spring 2025 are closed for this project.

This project assists in Professor Fedyk's more practical research, including not only her research papers but also frequent media interviews and the op-eds she writes for outlets such as Washington Post and LA Times. Example topics covered in this project include: Macroeconomic policies in the US and abroad; Measuring corruption in different countries; Design of sanctions against Russia; Analysis of individual businesses; decisions to exit the Russian market; Reconstruction plans for Ukraine. This project may also include outreach activities and work in social media.

Role: Key tasks will include:
- Researching available information on individual topics.
- Hand-collecting necessary data.
- Writing preliminary drafts of briefs and materials.
- Outreach and social media management.

Students involved in this project will perfect their skills in:
- Effective communication, both written and verbal.
- Understanding of the scientific research process and how it relates to policy debates.

This project is ideal for those interested in a career in think tanks and evidence-based public policy.

Qualifications: Required:
- Excellent communication skills;
- Highly organized;
- Detail oriented;
- Interest in pivotal world issues such as stopping Russian aggression.

Must be willing to put in 10 hours/week every week, with no exception.

Hours: 9-11 hrs
