The UC Berkeley Herbaria Archives document botanical exploration and study in California and western North America from the 1860s to the present day. We are seeking an apprentice to help our archivist with digitizing our collections and other archival research tasks.
Role: Tasks may include digitizing and cataloging archival materials, exploring new technologies to transcribe and provide access to archival materials, performing research in our archives, and other tasks as needed.
Qualifications: All majors welcome. Students should have good organization and communication skills, be able to work independently, and be able to handle rare materials from our archives with care. An interest in natural history, history of science, or digital humanities is helpful. Students should be familiar with Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel and have basic skills with Adobe Photoshop.
