Applications for Fall 2024 are closed for this project.
This project examines gender differences in productivity and engagement in remote work settings. Conducted with software testers in India, the experiment involves a comprehensive analysis of work patterns, interruptions, and productivity metrics in both remote and in-person settings. The study employs multiple data collection methods, including video observations, surveys, and desk tracking software, to capture detailed behavioral and performance data. By comparing these metrics across genders and work settings, the project aims to uncover significant insights into how remote work impacts male and female employees differently, contributing to broader discussions on gender dynamics in modern workspaces. Additionally, they might be involved in other projects centered on organizational behavior and those that employ a full-cycle research methodology.
Role: The undergraduate research assistant will analyze video, survey, and observational data, conduct qualitative assessments, and assist in statistical analysis and data cleaning. They will gain hands-on experience in data analysis using technical software such as Stata, Python, and Atlas.ai. Additionally, they will be involved with developing research protocols and ensure data integrity throughout the project. This role will provide comprehensive exposure to the entire research process, from data collection to analysis and reporting.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will preferably be a sophomore or above with strong analytical skills. Some background in Stata or Python, and experience in web-scraping is also desirable, however, it is not required. Candidates without prior experience in technical software will receive training as needed. Candidates should be open to learning and engaging in diverse research projects related to organizational behavior and inequality.
