This project offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of engaging educational materials and the communication of academic research. Working closely with the faculty mentor, students will help improve the design, organization, and accessibility of educational resources while gaining experience in design, digital communication, and web content development.
Students will gain practical experience in digital media, science communication, website content management, and visual communication. The project is well suited for students interested in education, design, communication, digital humanities, user experience, web development, or public-facing scholarship.
Role: Responsibilities may include:
- Improving power point slides for clarity, visual appeal, and audience engagement.
- Developing presentation templates and visual assets for research talks and conference presentations.
-Improving the design, organization, and reach of the Our Way of Life Archive website, with the goal of making project information more accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.
-Creating digital content that helps communicate the project's goals, activities, and impact to students, researchers, and the broader public.
- Identifying opportunities to improve the consistency, accessibility, and visual communication of educational and research materials.
Qualifications: -Good organizational and time management skills, consistent weekly communication
-Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
-Interest in visual design and creating clear, engaging educational materials.
-Experience with presentation software (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva, or similar) is desirable.
-Creativity, initiative, and an interest in improving how educational and research content is communicated.
-Familiarity with website editing, graphic design, or basic HTML/CSS is a plus but not required.
Hours: 9-11 hrs
Off-Campus Research Site: This work is remote and all meetings will be held over zoom once a week.
