Department of Neurosurgery - Spine Clinical Research Assistant

Closed. This professor is continuing with Fall 2024 apprentices on this project; no new apprentices needed for Spring 2025.
Assistant will remotely call patients before and after surgery to collect data and will review medical records for retrospective databases. Assistant will also have the opportunity to shadow in clinic and assist with in-person research tasks.
Role: Undergraduate will:
1. Communicate with patients within the inclusion criteria of the study projects to collect patient reported outcomes by phone
2. Enter data into the electronic data capture systems for research projects or retrospective databases.
3. Participate in bi-weekly Zoom research meetings with the attendings, fellows, residents, and research staff.
4. With experience, students may participate in writing abstracts, papers, and textbook chapters.
Qualifications: Preference is given to incoming sophomores and juniors.

Hours: 9-11 hrs
Off-Campus Research Site: Assistants are expected to complete 4 hours of remote work per week. Assistants are expected to come in-person to the UCSF Spine Center (Parnassus Campus) once a week, for 3-4 hours.
