Applications for Fall 2025 are closed for this project.
Urban gun violence is an epidemic in many communities. It has distinct racial and place-based inequities. A national community-based solution, called Advance Peace, is aiming to end urban gun violence using a healing-based approach. We are evaluating this intervention and asking: how does Advance Peace work? What are the characteristics of those engaged in gun violence? What are the quantitative and qualitative ways to measure the impacts and influences of the Advance Peace intervention?
Role: The URAP apprentice with work with the Center for Global Healthy Cities and Prof. Jason Corburn to help clean, analyze and visualize data gathered by Advance Peace street outreach workers. The URAP apprentice will support a data dashboard to share information about the intervention and work with a team using R to generate some descriptive analyses for public reports.
Qualifications: Required prior experience using Tableau and/or Looker Studio. Experience using R and interested in deepening their skills in data analysis and visualization.
