This is a hybrid opportunity, with work mostly offsite, except for testing cycles. Responsibilities include design, simulation, and test of a custom analog IC for a Stirling engine control system targeted for space flight. Direct collaboration with Prof. Sanders, industry, and NASA teams. The role involves performing circuit-level analysis, reviewing test plans, supporting silicon validation, and documenting design specifications and results. The Analog IC Designer will also participate in technical discussions, contribute to project reports, and engage with multidisciplinary teams in a collaborative environment.
Role: Become lead on an application specific analog integrated circuit design. Prove out your class learnings on op-amp analog signal processing and pulse-width modulation (PWM) control. Project will involve design and layout over the first year, with candidate ideally available to participate for a second year. Second year involves design of test set-up, and final acceptance testing. Team with Prof. Sanders, industry collaborators, and NASA.
Qualifications: Strong proficiency in analog circuit design and power electronic circuit design, including analysis, simulation, and optimization.
Experience with industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., Cadence, SPICE simulators) and layout-aware design flows.
Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment, communicate technical ideas clearly, and document designs thoroughly.
Previous experience with tape-out, lab measurement, and debugging of silicon prototypes is a plus.
Candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident.

Off-Campus Research Site: Hybrid. Most work is off-site. Testing will be in a lab with location tbd.
