Registration Apprenticeship

Closed. This professor is continuing with Fall 2024 apprentices on this project; no new apprentices needed for Spring 2025.

The Registration division oversees and manages collection object documentation. URAP students will assist in the transformation of once hidden collections to fully accessible collections through:

· Processing New Collections Acquisitions

· Research and Cataloging of Existing Collections

· Archives Inventory and Needs Assessment: Library and Publications

· Archives Inventory and Finding Aid Creation: Research Documentation

Role: Specific duties include processing new collections acquisitions, research and cataloging of existing collections, and inventorying archival materials. Where appropriate, digitize analog media such as photographic negatives and slide transparencies for research accessibility.

Qualifications: Students are expected to maintain a close attention to detail; have manual dexterity; great writing skills; and be a current UC Berkeley student in the URAP program. The position is appropriate for students studying: anthropology, history of art, ethic studies, middle eastern languages and cultures, history, and other associated humanities majors. Hours are flexible between 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday, with a commitment between 4 to 8 hours per week.
