The Impact of Human-GAI (Generative AI) Interaction on Society and Organizations

Business, Haas School, Psychology
Applications for Fall 2024 are closed for this project.
Human-GAI Interaction is inevitably becoming more common. We seek to address the following research questions:
1. What are the pros and cons of mandatory disclosure of non-political deepfake commercials? Would the disclosure affect people's trust towards the political information they see?
2. How could GAI aid crowd-based forecasting?
In the projects, we will:
(a) conduct experiments studying people's attitudes towards political and non-political infomation after exposure to non-political deepfake;
(b) examine GAI (e.g. Large Language Models) makes predictions.
Role: You will gain experience in nearly all aspects of the research process, including conducting literature review, generating experimental stimuli (including prompting and gathering responses from Large Language Models), and questionnaire quality control. You will be directly supervised by Yunhao (Jerry) Zhang (postdoctoral fellow), but Professor Juliana Schroeder (Jerry’s postdoctoral advisor) will be heavily involved in the research process. You will get a chance to work with them closely based upon performance. NOTE: Project related tasks can be both in-person and remote.
Qualifications: We seek research apprentices who are interested in human-AI interaction in social science contexts (psychology / business / economics / …). Experience in Python coding and familiarity with Large Language Models' APIs are preferable (not required). We are especially interested in students who are considering applying to graduate school to do research in Business and Psychology or any related field! Please check our websites for full information about our research.
