The purpose of this project is to uplift the unique contributions of AA&PI
teacher-content creators in relation to perceptions about AA&PI communities and broader educational discourse on equity-focused and race-conscious policies and programs. We aim to identify thematic trends in AA&PI teacher-content creators’ posts about their roles and responsibilities as policy implementers, changemakers, and educational architects, and put these themes in conversation with their perspectives on how their digital content shapes public discourse.
Role: Task #1: Attend weekly check-in meetings with faculty mentor and project members to discuss short-term and long-term goals of project, complete training, discuss project updates, and collaborate on direction of project
Learning outcome #1: Develop verbal, interpersonal communication skills
Task #2: Aid the faculty mentor with qualitative interviewing
Learning outcome #2: Learn specific techniques for collaborative qualitative research in education; develop communication and interpersonal skills associated with interviewing and building rapport with study participants
Task #3: Collaborate with faculty mentor and additional project members with developing a conceptual map of findings
Learning outcome #3: Learn and develop creative skills to visualize and communicate data
Qualifications: Education major/minor or interest in education or social science research desirable
Familiarity with or skill in Google Workspace apps, Zotero, and Zoom platforms desirable
Strong verbal communication skills desirable
Hours: 3-5 hrs
Off-Campus Research Site: Zoom for synchronous research meetings and asynchronous individual work
